NEW KEEPER

Barcelona will be looking for a new goalkeeper after current number one Victor Valdes announced at the start of last season that he will be leaving Barcelona in the upcoming summer.

Valdes has been at Barcelona since the start of his career and it is understood that he is seeking a new challenge. A number of names have been touted as possible replacements. This is going to be one of the highest possible positions for a goalkeeper given that Barcelona are one of the biggest clubs in the world.

They recently came against Scottish giants Celtic in a Champions league group stage encounter, which in the Spanish club won 1-0 due to a goal from Cesc Fabregas. The margin of victory, though, could have been significantly greater because Barcelona had numerous chances over the course of 90 minutes. This was partly down to the man advantage they had after Celtic had a midfielder sent off with a straight red card. The score could have been significantly greater had it not been for the exploits of Fraser Forster, who was goal for Celtic.

After the match, defender Dani Alves has singled him out as a potential replacement for Valdes. In an interview to the Scottish daily record, he said, "We have played Celtic three times in a year now and each time Forster has been fantastic. He has had to deal with the best attacking players in the world and each time he has done very well - even in the games Celtic lost. Barcelona are a club that are always looking to add quality and it’s clear Forster has real quality."

The club has been linked with several names like Thibaut Courtois and Pepe Reina. Recently, Reina said that he was happy to be linked with his boyhood club Barcelona.
