Alves Wants To See Out Contract

After being heavily linked with a move away from the Camp Nou, Brazilian defender Dani Alves has claimed that he wants to see out his contract at Barcelona. The 31-year-old is regarded as one of the best right backs in the world. He has been a major reason towards Lionel Messi scoring the number of goals that he has done in the last five years. After joining the club from Sevilla for £ 25 million several years ago, Alves looks like coming to the end of his spell at the Camp Nou. He has been linked with a move to French club Monaco in the last few months.

He is out of contract next summer and there has been no talk of a new deal. Despite the speculation, Alves has confirmed that he wants to remain as a Barcelona player. The Catalan club are expected to go through several changes in various areas of the pitch after finishing last season without any major trophy for the first time in more than five years. During his time at Barcelona, Alves has been hugely successful after winning two Champions League titles and four la Liga trophies. He was a key ingredient of the Guardiola team that will be regarded as a revolutionary team in years to come.

"I want to fulfil the contract I signed. I am very happy at the club. I've had some wonderful years here - recently not so much but I want to help bring enjoyment back to this club. When I return to Barcelona I will speak with the people at the club and see what they want. If they want me to go I will look for an exit. If they want me to stay, I will continue. I have a contract with Barca and I have always given everything for the club, regardless of the results of the last [few] years,” said Alves.
