ALVES BACK TO FITNESS

The defender of Barcelona, Daniel Alves, has recovered from his thigh injury and he is expected to feature for Barcelona in the match against Rayo Vallecano which is going to be played at Estadio Teresa Rivero on Saturday. Alves has not played in the last two matches for Barcelona because of the injury in his left thigh. Alves had discovered that injury while playing in the match against Real Madrid on 7th of October.

Barcelona hasn’t got the services of its regular first team defenders in the last few games. Carlos Puyol has been out of the team due to the elbow injury, while, Gerard Pique hasn’t been playing due to the foot injury. Alves also injured himself in the match against Madrid two weeks back. Because of the absence of these players, Barcelona struggled with its defense in the last few matches. Barca conceded seven goals in its last three matches. So, the return of Alves is definitely great news for the Barcelona camp.

Apart from Alves, Sergio Busquets will also make a comeback for Barcelona against Rayo. Busquets had been banned for two Champions League matches because of his violent behaviour in the match against Benfica which was played on 2nd of October. Due to that, Busquets wasn’t able to play in Barca’s last match against Celtic.

When Tito Vilanova was asked about the return of Alves, he said, “Alves took part in the training session today and he seemed to be moving quite well. So, there is a good possibility of him being given a place in the starting line up in Saturday’s match. He is a quality right back and his comeback will definitely strengthen our defense.”

“The match against Rayo is going to be a difficult one. There are some dangerous players in the Rayo team and we can’t afford to take that match lightly.”
